Hello HIVE

Welcome to yet another edition of weekend engagement wk212. Just like every other weeks with amazing prompts, this week is no exception as it is loaded with exicting and intriguing prompts. To select from, I deemed it fit to write about

"Should children gain financial reward for doing every day tasks and chores around the house? Discuss, and tell us what happened in your case when you were a child. -use your own photos".

Children are indeed heritage from God and it is sure painful when there is no cry of a child in a home because it is the desire of every parents to birth and nurse a baby. Over here in Africa, it is the joy of a mother to send her child on errands and whenever the message is delivered safe such child is been praised by the parents.

But then should children be given a monetary reward for doing tasks and chores around the house? In my own kindled opinion, I will rather say money should be taken out of the equation as kids are not been paid for what they are supposed to do around the house as subsequently they feel entitled to a reward for whatever little thing they do. Moreover as time goes on, there is every possibility it would instigate laziness whenever the money is not available raising side talks between parents and children.

While growing up as a child, my mom was the strict one compared to daddy and that's because whenever we help him do stuff there is always a cash gift left for us. It got to the point where I and my siblings always fight for who willl wash daddy's clothes because we are sure to find money in his pocket and whoever finds it keep it for himself. Due to how daddy tips us continually, helping mom around the house was always a problem since their was nothing attached it. Sometimes when we are pushed to ask for money she always use the term "if we pay her for the meal we've been eating since we were born".

Only money has the power to ignite the hardworking spirit in me then so mom was not cool with it as she made dad stopped all the monetary rewards whenever I do stuff. At first I was angry but as time goes by I realized it's my duty to help around the house not because of money but as a responsibility and a way of showing your parents and neighbors you were raised well as per the African culture. In all, it does not stop both mom and dad to appreciate our efforts but then they bought stuff they know we need at the moment and I think is nice that way.
