As an I.T Tech, I have seen and heard some really crazy things over the years. Clients trying to use technical terms acting like they no more then they actually do (this is funny) to people just out right lying to you when you asked how something happened. When you start to establish a client base you form a kind of relationship with these people, some become people you enjoy hearing from and some are total nightmares. What is really annoying thou, is when you know these people because you seen them 25 times, they still refer to you as the "computer guy" but to your face they know your name.
Kind of Odd.
Please excuse my grammar i am not a writer.
Moving on...
I will tell you a few stories off the top of my head that i found assuming and or strange
The Computer just shuts down
Awhile back i had a guy call me, he said "I turn on my computer it will run for a few minutes then just shuts off, its not even that old" I explain to him that it sounds like a heat issue, but could not be certain, told him to drop off the system and i will have a look and get it sorted out. He drops off his tower, i notice that it is fairly new, less then a year old. I take it back to my workbench and hook it up, sure enough boom shuts down. I take off the side panel and what did i find? A frog!! Apparently his son probably about the age of 9 to 10, caught a frog and figured he would keep it inside the computer tower, so he actually un-screwed the side panel and put the frog inside the tower. The frog somehow got stuck in the CPU fan causing not to spin and thus the system to overheat. I fixed a computer by removing a dead frog ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Nothing on my desktop works!
A client called me, and said he could not click on any icons on the desktop, nothing was working, the mouse was moving but nothing else. I tried to talk him threw getting connected via remote support but after 5 min i gave up cause he was totally computer illiterate. So i scheduled a time to come onsite and have a look i get there and i see what he is talking about everything is there, but nothing is clickable. So i restart the system and see what happens, everything comes up but nothing is clickable. Then i seen the issue, someone had taken a screen shot of his desktop set that has his wallpaper and hid all the icons. I found this to be really funny, I changed it, un-hid the icons. I never did tell him that someone was messing with him. He seemed already pissed off, i didn't want to end up being the person to get someone fired. So i just explained to him that it was a minor infection. He was happy to get back to using his computer.
I know how to build computers guy!
This is a classic, i seen it a few times but i will talk about this one in particular. A guy comes in wants me to build him a custom gaming system, so i ask him what exactly does he want. He tells me he wants the best that's out there. So i take his information and put together a quote to build it. I give him a call tell him to come in and i will go over everything. He shows up, i hand him the quote and start to go over all the components i choose and why, custom sleeving on cables, Liquid cooling the CPU, RGB lighting. He says "that's crazy i can build it myself" I said "ok no problem, have a nice day" not a month later he comes into my shop i see this terrible looking alien like computer (not alienware) and he says it won't turn on. I am looking over the components everything is low end except the Graphic Card. 1200 watt Power supply off brand, Bio Star Mother board (Terrible choice), Stock CPU cooler on a CPU that he overlocked.... No cable management it was just a Mess. Long story short i ended up replacing almost every component in that computer except that shitty looking alien case that was flimsy. Yea "you know how to build computers"
