I am very happy to be here today. After spending some time occupied with other activities, I am back at Open Mic—a window full of opportunities for everyone to express their talent in an enjoyable way, to meet and be known by friends across the globe, and even to transcend language barriers thanks to the technology at our fingertips.
Today, I am bringing you a song by singer-songwriter Don Julio Miranda, who was very famous in our country and parts of Colombia during the 80s and 90s. Sadly, he is no longer with us, but his legacy remains: his songs, his voice, and that uniquely local way of telling stories through music. I am going to perform a song that, at first glance, might seem to be the opposite of this week’s theme, “Get Right.” But if we look at it from another angle, doing “the right thing” also means choosing to heal without harboring resentment, despite the pain.
This song is precisely about that: not repeating what once hurt us, and wishing the best for the person who may have wounded us, so we don't burden ourselves with negative energy or unnecessary suffering. Sometimes, “doing the right thing” isn't about winning an argument, being right, or proving a point. It is about choosing inner peace, letting go, and understanding that the past is gone and the only thing we can build is the present.
I hope that everyone participating here—despite any setbacks—continues to find a refuge in music. Especially here in Venezuela, where we practically have a “factory of hardships.” Not because this has to be the reality—since it is a country rich in resources, talent, and beautiful people—but because it is a manufactured reality; that way, societies are easier to control. Yet, we keep singing; we
continue to find joy in our universal language: music. Hive Open Mic isn't a competition; it is a weekly community concert featuring live performances that promote peace through music.
Each week brings a fresh invitation to express ourselves and connect with one another. That is why, beyond the rules and suggested themes, what truly matters is the spirit we bring to the table—a spirit of sharing, of contributing something of our own, and of building bridges for friends.
So, friends, this is my take on "Get Right": using music to foster healing, remembrance, and hope. May this song by Don Julio Miranda remind you that it is always possible to choose the path of light, even after the heart has weathered the storm.

En esta oportunidad me encuentro muy contento. Después de un tiempo ocupado en otras actividades, estoy nuevamente acá, en el Open Mic, una ventana llena de oportunidades para que cada uno pueda expresar su talento de manera amena, conocer y ser conocido por amigos en diferentes partes del mundo, trascendiendo incluso la barrera del idioma gracias a la tecnología que hoy tenemos a nuestro alcance.
Hoy traigo una canción del cantautor Don Julio Miranda, quien fue muy famoso en nuestro país y en parte de Colombia durante las décadas de los 80 y 90.

Lamentablemente, ya no está con nosotros, pero quedó su legado: sus canciones, su voz y esa manera tan nuestra de contar historias con música. Voy a interpretar un tema que, a primera vista, podría parecer la parte opuesta a la temática de esta semana, “Get Right”. Pero si le damos la vuelta, hacer “lo correcto” también es tomar la decisión de sanar sin rencores, a pesar del dolor.
Este tema trata precisamente de eso: de no volver a repetir lo que ya nos hizo daño, de desearle lo mejor a esa persona que quizás nos hirió, para no cargarnos de energía negativa ni de sufrimiento innecesario. A veces, “hacer lo correcto” no es ganar una discusión, ni tener la razón, ni demostrar nada. Es elegir la paz interior, es soltar, es entender que el pasado ya pasó y que lo único que podemos construir es el presente.
Espero que todo lo que participan acá, a pesar de los tropiezos, sigan encontrando en la música un refugio. Y en especial acá en Venezuela, que prácticamente tenemos una “fábrica de dificultades”. No porque esa deba ser la realidad —porque es un país rico en recursos, en talento y en gente hermosa—, sino porque es una realidad creada; de esa manera las sociedades son más fáciles de controlar. Sin embargo, seguimos cantando, seguimos alegrándonos con nuestro idioma universal, que es la música.
El Hive Open Mic no es un concurso, es un concierto comunitario semanal de presentaciones en vivo que promueve la paz a través de la música. Cada semana es una nueva invitación a expresarnos y a conectarnos. Por eso, más allá de las reglas y los temas propuestos, lo importante es el espíritu con el que llegamos: el de compartir, el de aportar algo propio, el de tender puentes.
Así que, amigos, esta es mi manera de interpretar “Get Right”: poniendo la música al servicio de la sanación, de la memoria y de la esperanza. Que esta canción de Don Julio Miranda les recuerde que siempre es posible elegir el camino de la luz, incluso cuando el corazón ha pasado por la tormenta.
