In the outskirts of Agege, a place considered to be damned. there lives a mother of two notorious twins, whose existence was duly regretted by their mother. A victim of an unfaithful husband, fleeing and abandon his family
the children and their mother were living together, though things were tough but they were struggling everyday to survive, as a single mum the capacity to provide is really low.
So one day a man was passing by and as usual practice in Yoruba land, he greeted these boys' mum, in Yoruba land our manner of greetings depends on the person we are greeting and situation on ground during the time of the greeting.
As at then, ILeya celebration was around the corner [A Muslim yearly celebration that involves killing of rams e.t.c] As a typical Yoruba man, the man greeted the boys mum by saying in Yoruba language "Eku ipalemo odun" [which means "happy preparation for Salah celebration] and the boys mum answered in Yoruba language "AFI Ayo ati Ola Se odun oo" [which means she will celebrate the festival with happiness and blessing]
The boys heard this and ran away from home, without informing anyone, their mom got worried and notified the police and people in the neighbourhood about her sons disappearance from home, the whole neighbourhood was worried. they were notorious but never the kind of children to do such a thing.
After awhile, they found the children in a nearby mosque and decided to bring them home to their mother but the boys reluctantly refused and said no, everyone Got curious to know the reason behind their absurd behaviour.
So the boys were asked "Why exactly do you run away from home?"
the eldest among the twins narrated their reason with fear in his tone, he said "A man greeted their mum by saying in Yoruba language "Eku ipalemo odun" [which means "happy preparation for Salah celebration] and the boys' mum answered in Yoruba language "AFI Ayo ati Ola Se odun oo" [which means she will celebrate the festival with happiness and blessing.]
Everybody was stunned and asked what exactly is wrong with her reply.
The boy continued " he said his name is Ayo and his twin brother name is Ola but their mum replied the man by saying "AFI Ayo ati Ola Se odun oo". "Ayo" and "Ola" in the context of her reply means We will use Ayo and Ola for the celebration of Salah( Which symbolises him and his twin brother)". considering how notorious they were And he knows that the Salah celebration is known for sacrificing ram and cows, he is very sure his mum can't afford to buy a ram or cow, so she has decided to sacrifice them instead๐๐.
Listening to what his mum said, they both fled out of fear for their lives๐๐๐
