When provoked, it can stir love, hate, anger, joy or sorrow depending on what triggers it. It is part of the things that make us special as humans.
As good as human emotions or feelings are, it is not 100% good. In fact, for most people emotions are a very big limitation.
They have trained certain parts of their emotions, like anger, love, sadness and relied on it so much that it has become a default mode for them.
Instead of using their brains for making decisions, they allow their emotions to become their lord, directing them on almost everything in life.
The problem with emotions is that it doesn't weigh actions and consequences, it prefers instant gratification. It always wants things to be done right away and according to its desires.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where people vary from place to place, what you desire or believe might not agree with that of another person and that already is a big issue.
I don't know why I started laying the foundation for this prompt this way but I believe it is for a reason.
The right to speech is what the constitution bestows on every citizen, with rare exceptions in certain cases to serve as punishment or for a security reason.
I grew up and met people expressing themselves on issues that affect them directly or indirectly.
It is even commonly said “say your mind." That is to express yourself. We believe that when we say what's on our mind, it brings solutions.
In some cases, that's very true but in others, what we see is quite the opposite. You say what's on your mind, and instead of the other person to understand you, they would react emotionally, sometimes picking offence.
I have seen many cases where certain individuals spoke harmlessly about certain things but some people took it personally as though it was directed at them and became enemies with the people.
Even in society at large, the government would say we should talk, but once you are saying things they perceive as threats to their agenda you become a target.
Does this mean that we can no longer freely express ourselves because people pick offence when confronted with the truth?
Seriously, I can answer this for anyone but for me, unless it is not the truth, I will always say it.
Let anyone who wants to be emotional be emotional. Let anyone who wants to get angry be angry but I will play my role, afterwards, we can't please everyone.
But then, wisdom must also play a role here. Speaking the truth or saying what's bothering you doesn't mean you should deliberately offend others. in fact, there are times all we have to do is to remain silent or walk away.
As good as self expression is, there are times, silence speaks louder than anything else.
Many people are ruled by feelings, they don't care if what you are saying is right or wrong, if it hits them on the wrong spot, they will get mad at you and react in such a way you never anticipated.
There are different reasons for this act, for some it's just who they are but for a majority of people, I think it is simply their inability to master their emotions.
I reckon that if many can simply put their feelings aside and think things through before tackling challenges, things will go well.
Sadly, most people are only concerned about how they feel, their opinion is their biggest priority, and they can go any length to defend it.
Definitely, this will invite dispute because we all have different opinions. Our beliefs, culture and mindset varies, it will only take maturity and a well controlled emotion to handle this.
