The loudest story my camera roll could tell about my life would reveal that I am someone who finds a lot of joy in simply being alive and experiencing things. Being someone that definitely love to make memories of all the simple things that have stood out for me in some way, or has brought me joy, there would be pictures of a lot things that caught my attention for no particular reason, and probably an unreasonable number of pictures that made perfect sense to me at the time.
Nature would probably be one of the first things someone noticed while scrolling through it. I love nature a whole lot. There is something about seeing a beautiful landscape, a particular sunset, a cute butterfly, flowers, open spaces or even just an interesting patch of greenery that makes me want to stop and take a picture. Sometimes something is simply beautiful and I want to keep a record of how it looked. I think my camera roll would reveal that I am someone who pays attention to these little things. Maybe not every beautiful moment needs to be photographed, but I like having proof that I noticed it.
Then there would be the people. Friends. Family. Random pictures from days that probably felt ordinary while they were happening but somehow became worth remembering later. I love capturing all hangout moments, because it's not something we always do because we're all miles away from each other. There would be pictures of people laughing, eating, sitting around, or even random funny unaware moments. So that I can pop them out and hit them like,"Hey, remember when you did this"? Then we can go and on reliving those moments.. But I think those would be some of the most meaningful pictures in the whole camera roll because they would remind me of the people who make life feel like life.
I am not exactly an extrovert, so my camera roll would probably not suggest that I am constantly outside meeting people and attending events every other day. I enjoy my own space too. I can stay indoors and be perfectly fine. But there is a particular kind of outside activity that will almost always get my attention. If you tell me there is somewhere new to explore, something interesting to see, a little adventure involved or simply an experience I have never had before, suddenly I am interested. The plan just has to be curated well. Give me something that feels intentional and exciting, and I will probably be asking what time we are leaving.
And, of course, there would be food. Plenty of it. Because apparently seeing a good meal and simply eating it is not enough anymore. We must first document it from different angles. There would be pictures of meals I loved, meals I thought looked interesting, meals I probably had no business taking pictures of but did anyway, and perhaps a few that looked significantly better in real life. I mean food is part of how we remember experiences too. Sometimes you don't remember the exact conversation you had at a particular restaurant, but you see a picture of the meal and suddenly remember who you were with, where you were sitting, what the day felt like and how much you enjoyed yourself.
There would also be the completely random things. Screenshots. Interesting things I came across. Pictures I took because something made me laugh. Things I wanted to remember. Maybe a quote that spoke to me on a particular day. Memes, random skincare I plan on doing in God-knows-when. And a little bit of chaos here and there because why not?
Most days when I'm bored, I just drown myself in my camera roll. I have enough memories to make me tear up laughing, to feel nostalgic about places I've been, to miss people I haven't seen in a while, and to smile at versions of myself I had almost forgotten about. Sometimes I start scrolling with no particular intention and end up spending an hour going through pictures from years ago. And somehow, every time, I find something that reminds me that my life has been filled with more beautiful little moments than I sometimes give it credit for.
