As I watch my Hive power grow, I can't help but notice and call out all the additional benefits that have followed. The funny thing is that many of those benefits are not even intended, but are merely a result of choosing to grow stake which is an option available to everyone. In this article I'll try and highlight some of these so called benefits and see if anyone can relate.
The choice to hold onto ones stake is not a compulsory one, neither is it practicable by everyone. We all have a choice when it comes to staking, and those choices will vary depending on individual circumstances. However, for those who can afford to keep vesting and growing their Hive assets, they quickly realize some changes as time progresses.
Increased Visibility
When you hold a high stake you inevitably get the attention of others, both big and small accounts alike. Of course every content creator wants to reach out to more people as that inevitably attracts more support (if the content is attractive). An increased stake seems to support that notion although some can argue that visibility is largely as a result of consistency used building the stake in the first place.
Some might argue that visibility isn't always a good thing, but I think as long as the content is good and resonates with a majority, it will most likely attract further growth for those who stake.
Better Returns
When you are able to build a certain amount of stake here, it gives you a sample into the real life scenario of how the rich get even richer. With significant stake, content creation and buying up Hive are not the only options on the table to generate returns.
After a while, even curation starts to get attractive. As a matter of fact, it seems with more stake, the easier it becomes to earn cheap Hive as there is a 3% interest paid for just keeping Hive staked. One of my biggest supporters is known for her curation and barely creates any content herself over the years. Turns out with significant stake that can be more profitable and certainly less stressful than content creation.
Power
Yes, I mean this quite literally. The power to be involved in the decision making aspects of things. We all have a vision for Hive, but few can confidently say they are actively involved in shaping those visions. That's not to say we don't all have a role to play, but the Whales are called such for a reason.
Conclusion
Stake if you can, when you can and while you can. The upsides are many with very little downsides other than the inherent risk of not cashing out now. If you believe Hive to be a long term project, then that shouldn't be a problem.
