I had a colleague in sales who had quite the attitude. I felt She was rather brash and overly aggressive for my liking. We had a rocky start but over time we did get along. Her attitude was well known at the office. However, when she exited my former company, we all mourned her departure because she was the top sales performer by quite a mile
Sales especially brings out certain personality traits among its top performers. I think after a while of being at the top of such a field there must be unquestionable confidence that flows which may be mistaken for arrogance. Given, results may birth justifiable arrogance that may be understandable given the circumstances.
On the flipside is the attitude backed by zero noteworthy performances. This seems to be a lot more common in today's society. Everyone loves a confident individual because it signals a high level of security and competence. Yet the crass display of arrogance without results will almost always be subject to ridicule.
There is also the curious case of strength being overestimated to the extent that the wrong opponent is challenged. Arrogance attracts foes, and such attraction is fully centered on bringing the arrogant person down. No matter how powerful one is, there was every likelihood of a mistake being made when surrounded by enemies if the strength is backed by Arrogance.
There are few things more satisfying than seeing an arrogant person get their due. We must be careful not to mistake strength for invincibility. Those who make this mistake inevitably face the consequences.
