There are not many inventions and innovations where people see active dangers that could be posed by them, aat least not at the beginning, and not a lot that I can think of for now. The AK 47 machine gun would have been on such list, but you would likely see justifications from innovators about its value as a defensive tool.

We already have people (including myself) pointing out the dangers that the rapid and unsolicited development of the AI space poses. Companies are not slowing down on their quest to make AI solutions faster, better and more humanlike. A lot of us imagine Doomsday like scenarios of an AI takeover but I see danger long before that.

The quiet danger which is already happening is AI replacing human thinking, functions and companions. This is already happening at scale and is only bound to get worse at this rate. There is also the danger from AI leveraged cyber crime which would come with more refinement than your regular scam activities in the cyber space.

The concerns are many but regardless, AI is a tool as with any other invention. The problem with most tools is that people tend to figure out how to use them in various ways. AI is particularly unique because the rapid development stopped having a value proposition attached to it a while ago. Now it is simply about staying ahead of the competition regardless of the consequences.
