What about being one of the first America gold diggers where entire families migrate to the west looking for opportunities.

Maybe it would be boring as hell, but what is more exciting than going to explore (yet) undiscovered things?

If I should be picking a very concrete moment it would be a huge natural disaster, like a volcano eruption, also a atomic bomb explosion.
