The title of the song is “Owo Oluwa.” This is a Yoruba song, and Yoruba is one of the tribes in my country Nigeria. I really love songs in different Nigerian languages because they remind me of the different ways we can use music to praise God.
The song says, “Owo Oluwa be lori aye mi o” which means “The hand of the Lord is upon my life.” *
I love this song because the message is very simple but strong. It is talking about the hand of God upon someone's life. When I hear that part, it makes me think about how God has been helping me in different areas of my life. Sometimes we may not even notice all the things God is doing for us, but His hand can still be upon us.
I chose this song because I really enjoy the sound and the way the Yoruba words flow when I sing them. There is something about the song that makes me feel happy and free while singing. I also like the way the song repeats the message. It makes it easy to sing along and remember. What I have learned from this song is that when God's hand is upon your life, you don't have to depend only on your own strength. God can give you the strength and speed you need to move forward. The song also reminds me to appreciate God's presence in my life.
For me, “Owo Oluwa” is not just a song I want to sing. It is also a simple way of saying that I believe God's hand is upon my life. I’m happy to share this Yoruba song with you all today. I hope you enjoy my presentation and feel the message behind it.
