The Old Shoe
This is how the shoe looked before I started working on it. It was an old shoe that needed some work to make it look good again.
I started by peeling off the shoe. I removed the top, sole, insole and the other parts that were attached to it. After removing everything, the only parts I decided to keep were the upper and the insole. I wanted to make the other parts again myself and use them to renew the shoe.
After removing the old parts, I peeled off the leather that was attached and wrapped around the insole. I removed it so I could prepare the insole again.
Next, I placed the insole on the light black leather and marked the shape carefully.
After marking it, I applied gum to the parts where I needed to attach the leather. I then wrapped the leather around the insole and fixed it properly.
This is the insole after I finished wrapping it. With this part done, I moved to the sole.
I used the insole to mark the shape on the black noral. I added some extra space around the shape because I needed enough space to apply the welt. After marking it properly, I cut the sole into shape.
Next, I applied gum around the edge of the sole and also applied gum to the welt. I left them under the sun for about 10 to 15 minutes so the gum could dry a little and hold properly. After that, I fixed the welt around the edge of the sole.
After fixing the welt, I took the sole to the filing machine. I filed the edges carefully to make them smooth and bring out the shape properly.
That was the last part of the sole. After that, it was time to bring the upper and insole together.
Next, I lasted the shoe properly. I used the leg to arrange the upper and insole and make sure everything was sitting in the right position.
After I finished lasting the shoe, I applied gum to the back part of the shoe and left it for about 30 minutes so it could dry properly. after the gum dried, I joined the upper and sole together. I then used my hammer around the edges and other parts of the shoe so everything could hold well.
This is the final look of the shoe after I finished working on it. I was happy to see the difference between how the shoe looked before and how it looks now.
I really enjoyed this work because I was able to take an old shoe and give it another chance instead of throwing it away. I also enjoyed making the new parts and putting everything together again.
