Hebrews believe that they are a chosen people by God. They suffered alot at their different ages in history, what baffles me is that despite their sufferings, they still fight for their right to exist
ORIGIN
Arabian desert was the Hebrews' home. According to their custom, Abraham their great ancestor left the desert and settled in Ur of the chaldeas. He lived in Ur for sometime though there was a disagreement between Abraham and the people of Ur, due to this he left for Palestine in about 2000 B. C.
Isaac, Jacob and his twelve children were his descendants. They left Palestine for Egypt due to unbearable famine that fell upon them like a pack of cards
Joseph and some Hebrews under him reached Egypt when the Hyksos oppressors were ruling. They allied with the oppressors.
The Egyptians regained liberty and drove out the Hyksos, then they began to enslaved the Hebrews in return. This tells more about the great tribulations of the Israelites in Egypt
Moses was sent by God to deliver the Israelites from the sufferings. He led them out of the land of Egypt. He was their first leader known to have lived. He organized them and gave them laws. He also established a cordial relationship between the people and God but unfortunately he died before they reached the land of Palestine
By about 1200B.C the Hebrews were already in Palestine. They found Canaanites there and they were civilized. The Hebrews strive to gain foothold. Sometimes they faced the danger of being wipe out. Then leaders called judges rose and led them in battle.
The Hebrews founded monarchy in which Saul was the first Hebrews king
David became king after Saul. He conquered the Philistines and took Jerusalem which he made his capital. He united the whole Hebrews nation and ruled peacefully.
After David, Solomon became the king. He started trade and commerce. He built a temple which was about 60 cubits long with 20cubits breadth and 30 cubits high. Cubit was the standard measurement of the Hebrews which equals eighteen inches. The temple was known as Solomon's temple. The temple was divided into two parts. The first was called the Holy place where candle sticks, the table of shew bread and Altars of incence were. The second part was known as the Holy of the hollies where the Art of the covenant and the cherubim were.
