The world is a great school. All of us are learners therein. Nature displays a lot of things we could learn from, in order to be wise. One of the teaching aids of life are ants. We have many types of ants. The one that we are going to talk about are soldier ants. They contribute a lot of traits or features that teach great lessons about diligence.

Really, soldier ants are remarkable creatures that are emblems of industry among orientals.

  • They are Laborious Workers: They are the most laborious in the world of insects and in existence. They are all workaholics. One say they do not have time to rest.

  • Industrious Creatures: They are most highly industrious. They work very hard and tirelessly. They are always busy. None of them Is dependent on others.

  • Highly Timely: They collect food in proper seasons. Ants are not slack to get their food in store before it is late. They are highly timely. Ants are creatures that do not eat food of indolence. They do not wait until they are hungry before they start to work for the food they would eat. They are highly timely in knowing when to go out, gather food and store food.

  • Caring for Young Ones: Ants are fondly attached to their young ones, they tenderly take care of their younger ones. They do not lose their young ones by neglect and laziness. Diligence helps to make a man capable of caring for his family. Most folks who desert or neglect their families should learn from ants.

  • They have Keen Foresight for Others: They see that they have to provide food, build and defend for others. None of them is seen as enemy of progress on the way of others.

  • Humble Workers: They humbly carry out their work without any element of pride. Ants are very humble. None lords anything on the other, they all have respect for others and their work. Ants do not grumble or complain about the work they have to do, no matter how tedious it maybe.

  • Working as Team Until Completion of Task: They work tirelessly until the task is completed. They do not complain that they are tired. While others are tired, others take up. All of them work towards the completion of any task before them. They believe that in togetherness, everyone achieves more. (TEAM)

  • Sense of Responsibilities: Ants work together in excellent way or system of organization for the best of their colony. They have sense of responsibilities and belongings. Sense of responsibilities motivates them to work unwearied. They strongly believe that everyone is responsible for their success or failure. Human beings should do better than these lower creatures.

  • Highly Ingenious: Ants are ingenious carpenters and builders. They build their own system of homes and underground tunnels. It is a shame on human beings that ants could use their intelligence more ingeniously than those God has made lords over these tiny creatures.

  • Highly Hygienic in Nature: Ants exhibit unscrupulous cleanliness in their colony and they do not live in dirty environment. If you want to drive them (soldier ants) away, in our early age, we defecated and threw it on top of their colony. Soldier ants would immediately run away. They hate dirt. They are always attracted to sweet aroma of palatable soup.

  • No Loafing or J oblessness among them: Every one of them is for a purpose while it is moving on. The purpose is to supply the needs of their community. No one is just dependent on others by the reason of laziness. No one hinders others from carrying out their work.

  • They Are Offensive and Defensive in Fight: They are always ready to protect their community and their young ones from their assailants. They are ready to tight anyone who attacks them.

  • They Are Gregarious in Nature: They live together to complement one another. They are socially balanced. Hardly do you see them having friction and misunderstanding.

  • Highly Intelligent and Wise: They are intelligent and wise in the sense that they apply wisdom and intelligence to everything they do. Wisdom teaches them that they should be timely in providing their food at the right time.

  • No Leader/Controller. Yet They work Naturally: They carry out their Work spontaneously without a supervisor, guide or overseer.

Human beings and ants share similar traits, but in the area of diligence, human beings are no match to the ants. This ought not to be so. We should not lose dignity of our position because we are more intelligent. organized and opportune than them.

Man, in spite of this level of honour, leaves his life to chances to determine many things. If the whole world can be as diligent as these tiny creatures, there will be a great revolution than what we experience individually, nationally and globally.

Their lives should challenge us to be diligent in all we set our hands to do. Nothing enriches like diligence and nothing demotes like indolence or laziness.

Resources abound around us. The world is yet to be fully and maximally tapped. It requires our diligence to turn our world to a paradise.

There are lots of things that are yet to be discovered. There are lots of untapped resources in the oceans, earth and in the atmosphere. Idleness willmake the untapped resources to remain untapped.

It is diligence, hard work that can help to break through into the realms that are yet to unfold their treasures to humanity.
