Cute Bums of the Bee kind in particular!

Bees with cute bums-12.jpg

How gorgeous is this little bee? I've been stalking this bee for days to capture sneaky photos of it's little round tuchus but only managed to get this one today - finally!

I was elated with the result as this particular little Bee-auty is so quick and tends to get feisty with me whenever I start being pervy over her. She buzzes up to me and gives me a look like "I'll sting the fuck out of you if you come any closer - you creep!" and then she darts back to her little flower.

Of course I tend to keep my distance because I don't actually want to put it to the test but with perseverance and tenacity I finally got this photo and I'm so happy with it. She is so neatly packaged and compact...just like me and she has some spunk and attitude...just like me lol.

While out I got some other bum photos too but not nearly as cute as that gal.

This is some kind of wasp that I haven't been able to identify just yet. They visit the lawn each morning before the heat of the day sets in and they forage for what I'm assuming are lawn caterpillars or other tasty morsals.

This wasp bum is shiny but is just too long and drooping for my tastes. She sure does know how to move it move it though, flexibility is a strong point with this one and almost looks like the insect version of pole dancing on my rosemary plant. I'm pretty sure that pole dancing would be a whole lot easier with six legs than 4 appendages like we have. Can you imagine the moves you could pull? I'm sure the mandibles would all be drooling on the floor while their antennae are erect. Just saying.

This one, I just don't trust. It looks like the kind of gal who you'd meet in a bar, take back to your hotel room, wake up 24 hours later tied up with all your money and your jewellery gone. I also wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley. She reeks of black widow vibes to me. What do you think? I'm gonna stay far away from this kind of bum thanks.

So these are some of the little buzzing bums that I've been finding while in the garden and I love coming across them and running inside to grab my camera. I've never been stung by any of them and I respect their space and know that they have their roles to play in the ecosystem, but sometimes imagining a wasp pole dancing makes me laugh, so I thought I'd share some of my ridiculousness with you all and lighten the day a bit.

And as much as I would love my bum to look like this when I'm out taking photos of bee bums, I'm pretty sure that my anatomy isn't quite as cute as this anymore. Still pretty to look at though right?

This post is in no way meant to offend any of the entomologists out there that take insects and the study thereof very seriously. I have the greatest respect and admiration for the work that you do. I do however sometimes like to share the silly side of how I see and interact with insects. No bee or wasp bums were harmed in the making of this post.
