Hola, ¿qué tal, amigos? ¿Cómo están? Por aquí todo muy bien. Feliz noche para todos, feliz inicio de semana, un poco perdida, pero la verdad tengo mis excusas; digamos que estaba descansando de todo lo que me pasó en la universidad y que, gracias a Dios, ya por fin terminé y solo estaba esperando otras finales y, además de eso, estaba dejando de descansar la mente unos días porque últimamente me la he pasado muy ocupada.
Hi, how’s it going, mates? How are you all? Everything’s going really well over here. Have a lovely evening, everyone, and a happy start to the week. I’ve been a bit out of it, but to be honest I’ve got my reasons; let’s just say I was taking a break from everything that’s been going on at uni and, thank goodness, I’ve finally finished and was just waiting for a few more final exams. On top of that, I was giving my mind a rest for a few days because I’ve been really busy of late.
Hoy quiero compartir un domingo bastante especial que pasé con mi novio y mi perrita, que, como ya les he dicho, yo los considero mi familia desde hace rato. Yo quería ir para la basílica de la Virgen del Valle incluso desde que me gradué porque resulta que eso fue en agradecimiento de que cuando yo estaba buscando para estudiar, yo le pedí con mucha fe a la virgencita para lograr poder estudiar, ya que aquí en Venezuela y específicamente en Margarita. Las oportunidades públicas son bastante difíciles cuando tu situación es estudiar y trabajar al mismo tiempo y los horarios no cuadran. Entonces muchas veces es preferible recurrir a universidades privadas que públicas por ese punto de tener un tiempo para poder estudiar y trabajar.
Today I want to share a rather special Sunday I spent with my boyfriend and my little dog, who, as I’ve already told you, I’ve considered part of my family for quite some time now. I’d wanted to visit the Basilica of the Virgin of the Valley ever since I graduated, because it turns out that was my way of giving thanks: when I was trying to find a place to study, I prayed with great faith to the Virgin so that I could manage to study, given that I’m here in Venezuela, and specifically on Margarita. Public sector opportunities are quite limited when you’re trying to study and work at the same time and the timetables don’t match up. So, it’s often better to go for private universities rather than public ones, as this allows you to have the time to study and work.
La verdad, a mí me encantan muchísimo las empanadas de la feria donde está la capilla del valle y esa fue, de hecho. Nuestra primera parada, porque yo la había dicho a mi novio que quería un desayuno rico, así que él decidió llevarme a comer para allá como siempre mi empanada de carne, mechada también me estaba riendo porque Jade estaba ladrándole a las palomas que hay en el valle que la verdad son muchísimos y pudo observar una palomita mochita de una patita primera vez que veo eso la verdad, así como también yo no sabía esto pero ahora están cerrando la iglesia una vez que todos los puestos están ocupados cierran la iglesia con una cinta no que cierran las puertas pero colocan una cinta para que no entren más personas cosa que no pasaba antes me apareció súper extraño y había tanta gente que no pude ver a mi virgencita.
To be honest, I absolutely love the empanadas at the fair near the Capilla del Valle, and that’s exactly where we went. Our first stop, because I’d told my boyfriend I wanted a lovely breakfast, so he decided to take me there to have my usual beef empanada – the shredded beef one too. I was laughing because Jade was barking at the pigeons in the valley – there are loads of them, to be honest – and she spotted a little one with just one leg; it was the first time I’d ever seen that, to be honest, Also, I didn’t know this before, but now they close off the church once all the stalls are taken – they don’t actually lock the doors, but they put up a ribbon so that no more people can get in, which didn’t happen before. It struck me as really strange, and there were so many people that I couldn’t see my little Virgin.
