When we moved to Yilan County (Taiwan) about a year ago, I started feeding any stray dogs (or cats) I came across. There is an area near our home I always drive past on the way to the store and I always

10 months old: So I have a walking baby! Now that he has taken his first steps it's not as though he is suddenly all over the place, though. He still mostly couch-surfs or crawls, but I've noticed that

I’ve had another bout of bad morning sickness. Yes, at 6 months along. Considering the way that Murphy’s Law usually works, I suppose this shouldn’t be a surprise at all. I thought things were going so

This week I’ve tried to be a little more organized. I used to sleep in quite late each morning. It wasn’t just due to tiredness – the morning sickness was so bad that the more I slept the better it was

I’m actually writing this on the laptop this time as Jay is sleeping and he is in my arms so Greg set up the laptop here for me while he works on the computer in the study. I’m not sure how long Jay will

It’s a girl! Finally we know! And yes, I am used to the idea by now and feel really happy about it. Actually, I wasn’t surprised because both Greg and I had the feeling it was a girl. Firstly, there was

I’m home alone with Jay today. Greg is working in Chunghua. Right now he (Jay, not Greg) is in his walker and zooting all over the place. I’ve just fed him his cereal so in a few moments I’ll give him

Well, it’s early(ish) on a Saturday morning and after lying in bed trying to fall asleep for over an hour, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that it’s not going to happen. The same thing happened when I

Well, it’s another Saturday. Greg is working in Chunghua today so I’m watching Jay. He has just fallen asleep in his stroller so I thought I’d take the opportunity to write although I’m not sure how much

I never had time to write yesterday as Greg and I decided to go out. We slept in late and then Greg finished putting up this nice bookshelf he had made. It looks quite nice, but we haven’t put any books

Snippets from March 6, 2010 (8 months) So after going on about how wonderful I was feeling in my last email, things came crashing down on Sunday. I woke up to go to church and felt nauseas. Immediately

Finally, in what seems like the first time in forever, I’m feeling a little bit better. Woohoo! Even though I’m not 100% yet, just the fact that I wasn’t feeling nauseas every single second over the last

I’m going to have to try and write this one quickly. Greg is at work today which means I'm on baby duty and I’m still so sick I couldn’t face getting up early. Everything is more difficult now with being

I promised I would find the time to write today and so here goes. Stella is here now and so I finally have a little break. Thankfully Jay had a good night last night and we all managed to sleep in this

Well, the week started off pretty badly, but ended okay. I started spotting on Sunday and again on Monday evening and of course it was rather worrying. I went to the doctor on Tuesday morning. Greg doesn’t

Well, it’s been another topsy-turvy week for me. I really thought after last week’s appointment with the doctor that everything would be fine (well, besides the awful morning sickness, that is) and that

Well, it looks like HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) has reared its ugly head again. I am SO ill. Honestly, I just can’t wait for this part to be over. It seems that on average I’m puking about 5 times a day,

When I went in for my check-up the doctor made this sound and I just knew something was wrong. He showed me the blood in my uterus and said it was a sign of impending miscarriage and he gave me meds and

I figured there was no way I could write you an email this week and not mention the awful morning sickness so now whoever doesn’t know I’m pregnant again, will know now. So far the doctor says it looks

We didn’t do anything major to bring in the new year. Greg had to work until around 9:30pm, but I cooked us a nice meal and when he got home we ate together and watched some TV. Then at around 11:30pm
