More than a test which you either pass or fail, life is a walk, a friendonce told me. It isn't a race track where you run to win. It isn't a marathon where your stamina decides how you end. It is a gentle stroll where you stop to sniff roses or hug someone or have a brief smoke at Ali's kiosk. True, life is in moments and these moments are in life.Every day society defines for us what success is. But how can we trust society when society is all of us, different humans with disparate intentions, interests and fart smells. To trust society for your happiness is to select the colour of noose by which you will be hung. Times abound when success was the acquisition of Volkswagen Beetle. So, different people with different incomes all entered a race to own one. Some bought it, good and fine. Some saved enough to buy one but passed on before they could. For some unfortunate, they died in theirs; and for some others, they never got to buy one. But better vehicles came still, and then everyone began the silly competition again. Years later a remodelled Beetle would come and some persons would get it still. But ironically, the Type 1 Beetle is now a vintage car and not so many rich people can afford it. Life is extremely dynamic to be defined by society, morality aside somewhat. Ever wondered why yesterday's poor people were mostly illiterates and today's educated? It is because people thought education was the way out of poverty. But life has gone back again to the era of skills, reminiscent of yester years. This is where we got it wrong: The real thing, value for value, was less talked about except for nowthat people are beginning to think along new paths and dynamism is gradually embraced.All aboki to 'im own kettle, a wise man once said. To every man his own philosophy of happiness and definition of success. Be intentional about life regardless, but as you pursue it hoping to be all that you want to become, bear in mind that the world will alwayshave ordinary people.
