Proverbs 13:20;Whoever walks with wise people will be wise but Whoever associates with fools will suffer
The people we associate with have a lot of impact on our lives whether good or bad. There is a popular saying that “show me your friend and I will show you who you are”, this was not said just for saying sake, our fathers cooked up this expression because of the truth behind it and the power that the people we associate ourselves with have over us. Do not think for a second that you cannot be influenced by others so you do not really care, unfortunately some people are too pompous they would not consider been meticulous and in the end they realize their mistakes but it may even be too late. The Damage may not be reversible.
It is for this reason why proverbs is informing us not to associate with fools, fools in this sense not only is it literal but also idiomatic, we are not to associate with people whose destination is not in line with ours, we are not to associate with people who causes us to move away from God and we are not to move with people who do not impact us positively to live a good Christian life. God gave us the spirit of discernment for some of these things too, when a person will not help you in life you will know, heed the directions of the Holy Spirit and move away. Friendships, good or bad, indicates the direction you are heeded, be careful, walk with wise people and you are bound to go far if not reach your destination.
