Habakkuk 3:17 Though the fig-tree does not bud and there is no grape on the vine, thought the olive crop fail and the fields produce no food, though there is no shed in the sheepfold and no cattle in the stalls, I will rejoice in the Lord and will be glad in God my savior.
Now at the beginning of this chapter when you read you realise that the prophet was all about complaining to God, he was sad and felt overwhelmed, “how long, Lord must I call for help but you do not listen…” however irrespective of all this he did not loss hope nor did he loss faith. As matter of what he goes on to encourage himself and to let us know that though the darkness prevails and it is as if the sun will not shine again, he will not fret but rather remain faithful and truthful to God, he will rejoice and be glad in him, why is that? Because he knows the God he serves, how faithful and just he is.
This is what ought to be the life of a Christian, for road of life is not all smooth and shiny, beaming with smiles and extravagance to the very end. As such, when the dark nights come, when the bad arrives we should know that it is transient and not a permanent thing and although we ought to wail to God and to ask for his mercies and deliverance, we ought to also hold to our faith and remain steadfast till our day of exaltation arrives, for it is by so doing that the power and mighty of God would be shown to the world that they may believe in him even as you believe in him and gain faith. Beloved be strong in the Lord and let not the winds and tides move you, for you have an anchor that keeps the faith, have a blessed day even as you meditate on the word.
