One of the best parts about living in these villages is to experience the fresh produce during different seasons. It has been the maze season so far and we got some of the corns gifted.
It tasted so good both boiled and barbequed. Well, I had to use the stove top since I didn't have the fire going. But it tasted soo good. This might be one of my favourites now. Add a little butter or lemon to it and it tastes amazing.
It is not just our favourite but the bears from the forest also come down to eat this. I've heard they're crazy about these corns.
I know of my neighbours and other familes who live in this farm houses just to take care of their crops from these animals attacks. They keep a big fire going and scare the bears away.
I still can't think about spending the night expecting a bear to come to you. That too not so friendly bears, the real ones that live in the forest.
This year there were bears who did come down, I heard. They, the villagers, would be alerted by the dogs first. Then they keep their fire ready.
Now the corn is being collected and kept for drying on everyone's roof tops. The remaining of the plant is tied and kept some grass over it, probably for the cows after it gets dried. These are the stocks for the winter.
Even though most of the places are cleared of the corn plants, I'm still scared of bears hiding behind them.
