A lot of my childhood was spent playing in the village wood, climbing trees, making dens or paddling in the brook.

I don't make any dens nowadays but I still enjoy a good woodland walk.

Searching for bluebells was a bit of a disaster today. We were expecting a lot but found very little. We did come across some creepy arsed trees though, that I love.

This looked like it had a keyhole in the trunk.

Some trees look like they're ready to jump out at you when you are walking past.

This tree was similar to a totem pole. You sometimes see trees with growths on their trunk. These are often burrs that have grown over a wound. It doesn't usually cause any harm to the tree.

There’s nothing like being outdoors. Sometimes you might not come back with the photographs you initially wanted, but you will always find something else.

Plus you've had a good time as well.
