For #marketfriday by @dswigle, I visited my local garden centre.
It’s somewhere I haven't been for awhile. It's appears to have changed ownership since I last went.
Inside, I was pleasantly surprised that they had diversified and are now selling an eclectic mix of items as well as garden equipment. They've even got an old Morris Minor in there (unless someone forgot to put the handbrake on and it's come crashing through the shop)!
Growing up, my mum had a dolly tub to wash our clothes in. I can remember as a child trying to get into my neighbour's tub that was residing in their shed. For some reason, I went in knees first and promptly got stuck. My friend had to go and get my mum to get me out! I decided never to do it again .... not even now.
The iconic, red british double decker bus. I don't get on many buses now, but I can remember getting half way up the stairs and the drivers would always set off before you got to your seat. You had to hang on for dear life. I'm surprised I ever got through my childhood in one piece!
The real reason I'm in the garden centre is to drop some goods off from the supermarket. The owner of the centre put it out on social media that they're collecting certain items, such as toiletries and medical supplies for the people of Ukraine. Apparently, they have a friend in one of our neighbouring towns who originates from Poland. They're working with a haulage company to get these goods to the Ukraine/Poland border. A lot of other companies are doing this and the response from members of the public have been overwhelming. It will be an ongoing thing, but I really do hope peace prevails in Ukraine soon. It's all terribly sad. 🇺🇦 ❤
