We took the dog for a walk around the Holmsley area in the New Forest, Hampshire where ponies, donkeys, sheep and cattle roam free.

In the New Forest, there are heathlands and woodlands. After we persuaded the pooch to leave the tree behind ....

.... we followed the footpath through the wooded area. It was a bit chilly in there and resembled the Blair Witch Project so we walked back into the sun.

During the summer, I suspect it gets very busy here. Thankfully, we only spotted a few walkers out today. I bet you could walk for miles and still not see everything.

Some of the free roaming horses and ponies were wearing reflective collars, so they show up at night so drivers can see them crossing the roads. Unfortunately, some drivers drive far too fast through the area.

Coming out of the car park we spotted a young cow walking up the side of the road. It's quite a common sight here!
