I had a walk down to the the Avenue Washlands Nature Reserve this morning. Sadly, we had some mindless vandalism last night. The wooden decking by the pond has been set on fire. It's an area that people can walk around the pond. It is a right mess.
Thankfully, the Canada Geese families are all ok. I don't understand the mentality of people who want to damage a nice area and put wildlife at risk.
A group of people were spotted swimming and drinking in the pond, so not sure if they had anything to do with it. Some kind soul has set up a Go Funding page to get the decking repaired. The total at the moment is £1,490. The initial goal was to get £1,000, so the funding is doing really well. Shame it had to be done in the first place though.
