On a recent trip to Norfolk, we visited the Titchwell RSPB (Royal Society Protection of Birds) Nature Reserve, which is a mix of salt marsh, beach, and freshwater marshes. The weather was perfect for a spot of birdwatching.
We followed the paths around the marsh, making our way to the Parrinder Hide through the marshes and along the boardwalk.
This particular hide has two views, one over the Volunteer marsh and the second one over the Freshwater marsh.
There were a few visitors with long lens cameras, tripods, and binoculars checking out the birds. If you don't have any binoculars, you can hire a pair out.
We saw a couple of egrets. One stood with a group of sleeping mallards.
We saw a black tailed godwit which I've not seen before.
We spotted quite a few greylag geese with their pink legs and orange bills.
The Nature Reserve is open every day. The staff and volunteers around are very helpful. It was a really interesting place, and I dont think you have to be a big bird lover to enjoy it as most nature lovers will enjoy the scenery alone. You can also go straight down to the beach to extend your walk if you wish.
