As Gamestop's share price continue to circle the drain (see the article linked below for an analysis), I have to wonder what the effects on gaming culture will be if Gamestop goes into bankruptcy. As much as we make fun of Gamestop and their game purchase prices, and as bad as the service can be, they're still one of the few places to go for random "gaming" type merchandise, whether that be figurines, accessories, soundtracks, or the actual game consoles themselves. The loss of Gamestop will leave a void and I'm not sure there's another chain of stores out there that can fill the gap left behind.
