I saw some smoke trees down on the same road, North Pass, and told my husband we needed to dig some up as they get mowed as well. Unfortunately, the county lawnmower man made a super early visit, and sure enough, they've been chopped. I will continue to watch them, and if they get big enough again by fall, I'll rescue them as well. Smoke trees are a reddish purple, kind of like a Japanese Maple tree, and have these little 'flowers' that appear wispy-like smoke. They are beautiful and very brilliant in the fall.
