Mondays And Burning Bushes 🔥…….. My Actifit Report Card: October 19 2026
‘Tis the season of burning bushes! These guys have been landscaped into just about everybody’s yard as the fall color is spectacular! We don’t have any but I keep saying we need to plant some. Perhaps a project for next spring. So, just what is the burning bush? I asked ChatGPT:
The burning bush is a deciduous ornamental shrub famous for turning an almost unbelievably brilliant shade of scarlet red in autumn. It's a favorite in traditional landscaping because it can look fairly ordinary through spring and summer, then become a spectacular focal point in fall.
Its botanical name is Euonymus alatus. It's native to parts of East Asia.
ChatGPT goes on:
Brilliant fall color
Its leaves turn vivid red, sometimes with pink or purple tones, before dropping. The color is usually strongest in a sunny location.
Unusual branches
The stems develop distinctive corky ridges or "wings." These are especially noticeable after the leaves fall and explain the botanical name alatus, meaning winged.
A substantial shrub
Depending on the cultivar and growing conditions, it can reach roughly 6–15 feet tall and nearly as wide. It naturally forms a dense, rounded shape.
Apparently, this bush is considered in some parts of the US as a noxious weed. I don’t find it listed on the public works website as one for here, so I may go ahead and get a couple come spring. It produces tiny red berries which the birds feed on. I think they’re stunning!
We hit Walmart today for some needed items; Starbucks for some needed coffee, and Safeway for some needed grocery items. It’s been a quiet day.
Here’s some pics from 2022 as the Time Machine takes us on a trip to the past……enjoy!
That’s it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

BSB Exodus 3:1-6
Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from within a bush. Moses saw the bush ablaze with fire, but it was not consumed. So Moses thought, “I must go over and see this marvelous sight. Why is the bush not burning up?”
When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from within the bush, “Moses, Moses!”
“Here I am,” he answered.
“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”
At this, Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
