It was a grey and stormy winter day. I don’t mean stormy as in thunder and lightning, but just grey, grey and more grey! Many shades of it from the sky to the bay. We decided to take a trip to Bellingham Bay for a change of scenery. We’ve never gone down there before in the rain. We drove to the Marine Park in Fairhaven to avoid getting soaked. Neither @silvertop nor myself really need the exposure. I’m so done with this bug!!
For those of you who may have read a previous post of mine and for those who haven’t, I mentioned once how some years ago on our first trip to the area, I’d named a seagull Alfred. ALL of them, lol, were Alfred. They all generally looked the same to me back then, although there are differences from bird to bird. Anyway, here’s Alfred the 1st.
He was just hanging around on the ground. Seagulls are scavengers and if you happen to have food and are eating it, they can try to sneak attack and take it from you. I didn’t have any and honestly, I think he was cold. I wouldn’t want to float my belly in the saltwater on a day like today either!!
Here’s Alfred II. He was coming straight at me and darn it, I couldn’t get my phone opened up quick enough to capture the shot. It would’ve been so cool!
There was something floating in the water and he stopped to check it out.
The thing in the water almost looked like a nerf type football. Nothing to eat Alfred!
I turned south and spied someone up to something.
Looks like a photo opp. I was headed his way when I stumbled on something unexpected. @dfinney, these next two are for you! I was quite surprised as I’d never seen any here.
It was apparent that they had not survived unfortunately I’m guessing because of the snow? Sad on one hand but interesting for me as well, as I’d never seen one in its natural habitat.
And here finally, is Alfred III. There’s just something wrong with a picture of a seagull and snow together, lol!
We were thoroughly cold at this point and headed back into town to drop off an Amazon return. We went back to Costco to hunt for more kombucha. I had my first one a couple of days ago and although I did not like the variety we’d purchased, we had found another that was much better. We were looking for a specific brand and ended up buying 3 different ones. I’m looking for the one or ones I like the best and will narrow down future purchases accordingly. That’s a post for another day.
That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and have a blessed evening! 🙏🇮🇱🇺🇦
