Hey guys and thanks 🙏 for stopping by today! 😁🥶🧊🎄

They forecasted it; it came and has yet to leave! Yes, I’m talking about the ice storm in the Pacific Northwest! I also know that most of the country seemed to be under an ice storm warning as well. Back where I’m from, they call this a ‘silver thaw’. We’ve been bullied lately with subzero freezing temperatures and snow and now this. At least as of this typing, we’ve not lost grid power-yet! One beautiful thing we have gotten out of it, are the real life ice sculptures! More on that in a minute!

I got up this morning with the intention of going to work. I saw that my car had snow on it, but wasn’t really worried about it. I went against a rule that I have for myself and gave out my cell number to the 9:30 patient’s mom. She wanted to be able to keep in touch with me if either they couldn’t get there or I couldn’t. As I was getting ready, the dad texted me and told me they were not going to come due to the weather, and wanted to be rescheduled for another day. I said I’d call them when I got to work. Then……..I went out to get the snow off the car. I heard the tinkling of ice crystals falling. The parts of the car that didn’t have snow on it was covered in ice!🙀 I asked @silvertop to come out and assess the situation. I was spooked and felt like maybe I was overreacting. I couldn’t chisel through the ice on the windshield and just the 5+ minutes it took him to suit up to go out, that part of the windshield that was covered in snow, that I had removed, was iced up that quickly! He couldn’t chisel through the ice either! I called my boss and explained the situation. I’m sure he discovered the same thing at his house. We called off work.

Needless to say, going south to our son’s isn’t happening today nor tomorrow, and probably not on Christmas Day. Even though we are slowly warming up, there’s so much snow on the ground and on our road, that it will likely become impossible to even walk soon. It’s going to have to get worse before it gets better!

Even our resident police officer got his cruiser stuck and almost in the creek just trying to turn onto our road! See @silvertop’s post for more on this.

It is Christmas Eve-Eve and even if we weren’t done with preparations, we now would be as travel is dangerously impossible!
