Miracles do happen! I got up and was ready to hike by 11 am. We had planned to hopefully pull that off. It’s always so hard for me to get up on Saturday. It’s like I’m programmed to sleep in. I don’t like to sleep the morning away as that often then best time of the day. As you can tell from the picture behind the Fitbit stats, it was a very frosty morning! It gave me many photo ops! Let’s see.......
A Christmas fern with lots of frosty stuff on it.
A bird’s nest nestled in the cattails with frosting on top. The pond has a thin crust of ice on it.
There were so many frosted leaves that it was hard to choose from the many photos I took.
We were headed down Slumbering Bear trail. There’s this tree that was broken during a wind storm that left the trunk about 3-4 feet from the ground up. There were many clusters of fungi growing on it.
This was just one of the clusters. Then I practically stood on my head to maneuver my phone to just the right position, and captured this.....
Imagine if you were small-very small and wondered the forest. This might be the view you would see under the mushroom.
We merged into Buckhorn Loop trail and stopped at the bench for an 
Their view of Sumas Mountain in the distance.
