Hi everybody and thanks for stopping by!
Today was a bit of a lazy Monday at first as I slept just past 9 am and after getting up, made coffee and read for a little bit. I needed to roast 3 pounds of coffee-two for us and one for a customer, which I planned to do in the early afternoon.
Last week when we went shopping, I had purchased 2 different varieties of tomato plants, but had yet to get them planted. Due to slugs (we live in the woods here and they are EVERYWHERE!) I container planted them. As I looked around at the various pots with dirt in them, I decided to plant corn seeds from last year, tomatillos and then out front some oriental poppies. I figure with the corn and the tomatillos, that if they come up-bonus. If not, we’ll they’re last year’s seeds and I tried. 😎
We headed out for a hike a little later than planned, but it was ok. We stopped at our neighbor’s travel trailer to feed her cats as she had been over in eastern Washington due to some health issues (non-covid related). We found water seeping our from under her trailer and when I looked up at her door, rivulets of water streaming down the glass in the door and the front windows as well. So we headed to the electric panel to turn the water off and turned off the trailer as well. There apparently is a leak in an instant hot water appliance and it has released that water to the inside of the trailer. We have no keys; all of them are with her, so we’ve no way to get in. She’s not coming back until maybe the end of May, so this is going to ruin her home unfortunately. Breaking in isn’t a possibility due to a wayward daughter who is on the premises. 😔 I’m afraid it’s going to be more than she can deal with or maybe afford to fix.
After that, we headed on up. Partly cloudy and coolish, but no rain. The forest is beginning to come alive with little flowers.
You can see a blurry bit of pink in the bottom right corner which is another pretty little flower.
Actifit-Lamb was in rare form and wanted to run way ahead of us on the trail. I reigned her in though and she was happy to sit on this boulder up at Towhee Ridge under a pine tree and next to a rotting old growth stump.
I always try to move little creatures that might otherwise get stepped on or crushed by a passing vehicle. This little guy was on the part of the trail that doubles as a driveway up to the off grid cabin. I had to move him. I need a shirt that says ‘snail saver’!
