Our garden has been visited by a beautiful hummingbird. Every time it comes to feast among my flowers, Abby runs to grab her cell phone to take a picture, but it's reserved and quick, so we haven't been able to find it yet.
To console ourselves a little about this situation, we decided to make our own hummingbird, a girl just like us, obviously, with the most natural elements possible.
We know it's a risk, that by using these materials our art will be ephemeral, but isn't that how life itself is?
MATERIALS
- Colored cardstock.
- Pencil for drawing.
- White glue.
- Scissors.
- Tweezers.
- Seeds.
- Plant leaves and flowers.
- Marker.
Abby is a great artist, so she was in charge of outlining our hummingbird.
We apply glue to the surface of the drawing and drop in the leaves and flowers.
We use natural flowers to give it something to sip on. And for the eye, a bean, haha.
We go over the lines with a marker. Finally, we trim the excess leaves to achieve the desired outline.
And now we have our very own hummingbird. Who knows, maybe the visitor will find love in it and spend more time in the garden?

Nuestro jardín ha estado recibiendo la visita de un hermoso colibrí. Cada vez que se acerca a golosear entre mis flores, Abby corre a por el celular para sacarle una fotografía, pero él es reservado y veloz, así que aún no lo conseguimos.
Para consolarnos un poco de esta situación decidimos hacer nuestra propia colibrí, una chica como nosotras obviamente, con los elementos más naturales posibles.
Sabemos que es un riesgo, que al emplear estos materiales nuestro arte será efímero, pero ¿acaso no es así la vida misma?
MATERIALES
- Cartulina de color.
- Lápiz para dibujar.
- Cola blanca.
- Tijeras.
- Pinzas.
- Semilla.
- Hojas y flores de plantas.
- Plumón.
Abby tiene muy buena mano con el dibujo así que ella estuvo a cargo de plantear el contorno de nuestra colibrí.
Aplicamos pegamento en la superficie del dibujo y dejamos caer las hojas y flores.
Usamos flores naturales para darle algo que libar y para el ojo, un frijol jjjj
Repasamos las líneas con plumón y el pico con lápiz. Finalmente recortamos el sobrante de hojas para conseguir el contorno deseado.
Y ya tenemos nuestra propia colibrí. ¿Quién sabe, tal vez el visitante encuentre el amor en ella y pase más tiempo en el jardín?
