In this week 122, the proposal of our recent Spotlight Artist (sunsethunter@sunsethunter) is to make music based on the theme “Emotions”. This immediately connected me with this song “Sentir Zuliano”. Zulia is a state of Venezuela characterized, among other things, by the great love and devotion that its inhabitants have for their land, their "small homeland". Maracaibo, its capital, is reached after crossing the third longest bridge in Latin America, the General Rafael Urdaneta bridge, also known as "The Bridge Over the Lake" since it crosses Lake Maracaibo through its narrowest part. The length of the Bridge over the Lake is more than 8 km, exactly 8678 m and its width is 17.40 m. Those who have traveled through it say that crossing it is an extraordinary experience. And the song “Sentir Zuliano” expresses it with these words:

When I go to Maracaibo
and I start to cross the bridge
I feel such a emotion
my mind is cloudy

Modifying a little the original rhythm of the song, which is a gaita, and bringing it closer to the rhythm of partying, I present this beautiful piece of music where the emotion that is felt is born from the return to the small homeland, the return to the land of the childhood.

Obliged to clarify certain terms:
“La Chinita y Papá Dios” To refer to La Chinita is to speak of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá, patron saint of the state of Zulia, for whom there is a fervent devotion.

"El Saladillo" is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Maracaibo.

The sun is mentioned because Maracaibo, capital of Zulia, is called "The Land of the Beloved Sun". It is an extremely hot place, in fact, if the summers are short, hot and cloudy; winters…are also hot.

CORO

CHORUS
When I go to Maracaibo and start to cross the bridge
I feel an emotion so great that my mind is clouded.
I feel a lump in my throat and my heart lifts.
Without realizing it I tremble without meaning to I'm crying... Ohh
1
// The land of Zuliano is a small paradise,
Where all are brothers, from the guajiro to the costeño.//
2
// All Zuliano that does he feel, his homeland in the depths,
It seems to him that his people are the best in this world.//
3
//La Chinita and Dad God, walk through the Saladillo,
Walking under its Sun, that gives them all its Brightness.//
