Unfortunately I believe that humans would do anything if they knew that they wouldn't get caught. "Ah it's ok", "It's the first time I do that" or "no one will ever know", are cheap excuses for acting against rules.
During xmas holidays and this huge paranoia in the streets I've noticed many cars parked on pavements, on wheelchair ramps and people in general acting like this was a break from everything; laws, rules, kindness. Is it that easy for us to get out of control? Do we only care about ourselves and nothing/no one else?
It's upsetting that many of us comply with the rules only under the fear of punishment. Why though? Rules exist for the sake of a universal good. Most of the times laws and what we should and should not do is "decided" according to logic. For instance wheelchair ramps are made to help those people who cannot step on and off the pavement like you do and have a normal, independent life like yours. So by parking your car right in front of this ramp you selfish pig, you make the life of that person difficult. Also by thinking that no one will need to pass from there while you drink your coffee carefree, is just stupid like you are.
This is only a small example of course. Red lights, speed limit, driving drunk, and so many other things that put others in danger and show disrespect to our fellow humans are so sad when they happen. I bet that if people knew that some one would beat them up when disobeying, they would be more careful. However in a civilised world there is no space for violence. And also civilised people should act according to the rules without rules existing...
