Good day dear Hive friends, I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you are all well! In my new post, I would like to discuss the ecological benefits of a plant and hope you can learn something new.

You can see here liveforever which is also known under the scientific name sempervivum and it is an easy-care and diverse plant which copes well in summer with hot as well as in winter with cool temperatures. The botanical name means as much as eternity, which is why it is also associated with eternal life from a symbolic point of view and it can also be found in the mythology of different cultures and is also associated with thunderstorm gods such as Thor, Zeus or Jupiter and according to legends it can protect against lightning strikes and is also historically strongly anchored and has already been cultivated by Charlemagne and mentioned in writing by many scholars. From an ecological point of view, it is particularly interesting due to the long flowering period that extends until August and it is particularly popular with some species of wild bees or other insects and cultivation contributes a part to biodiversity.

In many countries, wild bees are threatened with extinction and according to estimates, over 10% of the species are threatened with extinction! In summer you can also see some species of caterpillars or butterflies that visit the pink flowers and it can also be easily multiplied and can also contribute to freeing the air of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2). It is also interesting to bind fine dust and can contribute to improving air quality, which can also be particularly noticeable in cities and due to the adaptability, the leaves can also store water well. Sempervivum is not only symbolically deeply anchored, but can also play an important contribution to the climate and is suitable for anyone who wants to design their garden ecologically and is also looking for something that creates an artistic atmosphere for the location. Due to the resistance to frost, you can also leave it outside in winter and it is robust and undemanding when it comes to care and adapts well to the location.
