Good night to all my beloved hive friends 鉂わ笍

Let me introduce you to these wild bees, which most likely belong to the family Halictidae. I managed to find a group of these bees in an abandoned plantation, where there were many plants and wildflowers that served as a food source for various pollinating insects, such as bees, butterflies, and moths. According to the information I gathered, these bees are solitary, but they often look for safe places to perch and rest together in groups before becoming active again the following morning.

What amazes me is seeing them perch together on a tree branch. The scene looks similar to a flock of birds perching together on electrical wires. Perhaps their purpose is to keep themselves warm.

Perhaps more than ten bees were perched on a single dry branch, but some of them flew away as soon as I tried to photograph them. Honestly, photographing these bees was not too difficult because they were not particularly skittish. However, the main problem at that time was the lighting.

I found these bees in the late afternoon, and it happened to be very cloudy that day. In macro photography, even a slight lack of light can have a significant impact on the results of a photograph.

This bee has some very unique characteristics. Its head is round, with two large, jet-black compound eyes. It also has a pair of antennae that curve outward. Although the antennae are short, they are straight from the base to the tip, with clearly visible segments.

From a close distance, we can also see that almost its entire body is covered in very thick hairs, especially around its legs and the underside of its thorax.

Two bees can be seen perched on one of the tree branches. I managed to photograph them from above, allowing us to clearly see the backs and wings of these bees.

If only I had enough light at that time, perhaps the photos I captured would have looked much more beautiful and detailed.

alt

These bees are not aggressive and rarely sting, which is why I dared to get quite close to them. But does that mean they cannot sting? They can sting, but only when they truly feel threatened.

These bees are also relatively small, which makes them very difficult to photograph. Honestly, I took more than 50 photos of them that day, but only a few turned out good and detailed. So, before sharing these photos here, I carefully selected and sorted through them to choose only the ones with good quality and clear details.
