Thanks for asking :) That’s how I would describe Shanghai, even if many of the buildings have been converted for tourist purposes, the classic architecture can at least be observed from the outside. If you are looking for more culture, you should go to Beijing or Xi’an, but there is also a lot to explore in and outside of Shanghai. True, the train system is well developed :)
