Good day dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to welcome you to my contribution and hope you all had a day that was full of positive experiences! In this post, I would like to bring a mineral a little closer and hope you can learn something new.
You can see here a representative from the mineral class of germanates and silicates, which is also known as Roedderite. The formation of this rare mineral can be traced back to the influence of high temperatures and it is found in volcanic areas and it was discovered for the first time in 20th Century and named after the mineralogist Edwin W. Roedder (1919 - 2006) who was one of the first to researched inclusions of liquids in minerals. Roedderite is often found together with other minerals such as Milarite, Osumilite or Yagiite and it is also interesting that it has already been found on various meteorites which have a high proportion of iron and in the past it was also a component of some comets that have been brought to the earth by space probes. From an economic point of view, it is not of interest due to the high rarity and it is particularly popular with collector circles or for research purposes and the crystals have a colorless or blue appearance and on this specimen the crystals are unfortunately only recognizable in microform.
