Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new contribution and hope you had a great start to the new weekend which brought some interesting experiences into your life! In my new contribution, I would like to discuss Greek mythology and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.
Some time ago I took pictures of a sculpture depicting Prometheus from Greek mythology and he is a titan who is probably the son of the titan Iapetus as well as the Oceanide Clymene who is also often associated with Asia. He is often portrayed in mythology as a protective figure and there are even legends in which he had created artificial humans out of clay and for this he went to the river and used the clay that was abundant in ancient Greece and mixed it with water to then form people from it and if he himself was not a god, he was considered the creator of humans and is often depicted in this context as a creator figure. He was highly revered for his inventiveness and was considered an extremely wise personality with whom people or gods sometimes sought advice and he is often depicted together with a torch and can be described as the equivalent of the light bringer Lucifer and according to a legend, Prometheus once stole the fire in Olympus to bring it to the people and this is a good metaphor for the light bringer. Another well-known legend where he has an important meaning was the legend of Pandora and the beginning was that Zeus wanted revenge for stealing the fire and he went to the blacksmith god Hephaestus who should create an artificial woman who was then sent to earth together with a box in which suffering and diseases were to take revenge. The result was that various pandemics broke out on earth and he also chained Prometheus to a pillar and let him eat by his eagle, but he was saved in time by the hero Heracles who killed the eagle and then freed him from captivity. Prometheus plays an important role in Greek mythology and it is assumed that he has been greatly revered by humans and in antiquity a huge cult has emerged around him and he was depicted in various works of art and to honor him was also the radioactive element Promethium named which can also be counted among the rare earths.
