Here you can see pictures of a being that can be found in different cultures and is also known under the name Griffin. There are different versions and usually it is depicted as a mixture of an eagle and lion and can be found for the first time in Egyptian mythology but it can also be seen in ancient Greece as well as in Asia. A griffin is usually considered invulnerable and has magical abilities and can cause enormous damage with his claws or even transport people and the term Griffin probably comes from the Middle Ages. This creature is also often appreciated because of the supernatural abilities to which clairvoyance belongs or the extremely good eyes which rarely escape something and are even able to detect attackers from a wide distance. The griffin is considered extremely intelligent and the places of residence usually include mountains and it is also associated with the element earth and the characteristic properties include that it is often in search of gemstones or metals such as gold and is also revered as guardians of places with mineral resources and of course mountains are very important place in this regard.
From a symbolic point of view, it is often associated with intelligence or skill and can also be seen since the 12th century in heraldry and is depicted in various coats of arms or other works of art of the Renaissance. Illustrations can also often be found on old coins, murals or temples and according to legends, fossils could also be associated with the origin of griffins. In general, the griffin was considered in the Middle Ages as a powerful being which had often lived in castle ruins and regarded as a protector and the area where a griffin lived was considered extremely safe. In ancient Egypt it was often associated with the sun and in Greek mythology he was considered a companion of the god Apollo who is associated with light or healing and was also considered the guardian of the gold mines of the Riphean mountains. It was also associated with Zeus and was considered the guardian of kings treasure chests and it also appears in the symbolism and illustrations of the ancient alchemists.
