Greetings dear Hive Community and friends of flowers, I wish you all a nice and hopefully cosy weekend which will be rich in positive experiences! I would like to present you a new plant today and hope you like my post.
Here you can see an perennial plant that bears the common name Granny's bonnet and scientifically Aquilegia vulgaris. Originally it comes from Europe as well as Africa and it is often found in forests, embankments or meadows. The flowering period starts from about May and June and magnificent violet or blue flowers come to light which look a bit like a bell. Optimal is a soil that is dry to slightly moist and the light conditions should be sunny or semi-shaded.
First of all, I would like to say that nowadays it is no longer used so often as medicine, but there are still possible applications, for example in homeopathy, in which Aquilegia vulgaris is used. In ancient times it was used more often as medicine because it has many positive properties which can contribute to wound healing and even against germs and bacteria it can be interesting. As always, with medicine of any kind, you should consult your doctor and ask about possible side effects!
Now I would like to come to one as I find very interesting topic, the mythology of plants. In the past, magic was associated with this plant and it was also believed that people could perform love spells with it. In Norse mythology, Aquilegia vulgaris was associated with the goddess of fertility and spring Freya and was often seen as a symbol of life force.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you like my Post, I used my camera Sony Alpha 6000 and Sony SEL-55210 Telephoto Zoom Lens (55-210mm) to take these pictures.
