You can see here a representative from the mineral class of germanates and silicates, which is also known as forsterite. Forsterite was first discovered in the 19th century by the French mineralogist and doctor Armand Lévy (1795 - 1841) who had found the mineral for the first time in Italy near the Mount Vesuvius and when naming it he referred to the mineralogist and minerals seller Adolarius Jacob Forster (1739 - 1806). As the origin can already be guessed, the formation can be traced back to a magmatic origin and it is widespread worldwide and the best-known places of discovery include England, Canada USA, France, Greece or Switzerland. Depending on the specimen, the color can be green, gray or yellow and can be traced back to the chemical composition and the formation can in some cases also be traced back to metamorphic origin and it has also been found on meteorites. Forsterit can be of interest for some pharmaceutical purposes and furthermore it is also used for the production of jewelry and from time to time it is also marketed as a healing stone, but here it is important to know that it is alternative medicine and you should always consult your doctor about the right medicine!
