During my visit to China I was able to make some interesting experiences and at the beginning of my trip I spent a few days in Beijing which is not only the capital city, but has a lot to offer from a cultural point of view. Beijing has so much to offer and I would call it one of the cultural hotspots of China in every way and in total I spent five days in the city which was enough to get to know the most important facets of the city and also to make a trip to the countryside from there. I also visited other cities in China which also had a lot of culture to offer, but in Beijing was probably the most offered when it came to traditional China and even if some things were different, I quickly found myself. Before someone travels to Beijing it's very important to inform yourself extensively and to reserve sights and also at Tiananmen Square a reservation is urgently required and I have booked my reservation in the official WeChat channel and I can recommend everyone before travelling to China to download this app. Before I could enter the Square I had to wait half an hour but I think that this is still within a normal range and there are certainly also times in which there is much more going on. The place is extremely safe and visitors here do not need to be afraid of acts of violence because many security measures have been taken here to protect this important place and before people can enter, they first have to go through a security check which is normal and I would describe Beijing as one of the safest cities in the world in general.
Tiananmen Square is also known as the largest urban square in the world and theoretically has room for hundreds of thousands of people. Translated Tian'anmen means as much as the Gate of heavenly peace and as one of the most important places of the Middle Kingdom, the People's Republic was founded here in 1949 by Mao Zedong in an important speech and here is also the seat of the People's Congress in a hall. Some of the most important historical buildings of the city can be found on the square such as the National Museum, Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the Hall of the People or others and depending on how much time someone spends here depends entirely on what he wants to visit and whether he has a reservation which unfortunately is not always so easy and I was unfortunately unlucky that the tickets for the National Museum were unfortunately already fully booked.
In the middle of the square is an obelisk which is dedicated to the heroes of the country and another result that in connection with this place should go down in history were violent protests a few decades ago. It can also be worthwhile to combine more things with each other and if you should be nearby, you can also consider a visit to the forbidden city or the Jingdhan Park, but here it's important to know that a reservation is also necessary for the forbidden city, but the park can be visited without. Finally, I would like to recommend this Square to every visitor to the city, but it's very important to remember to make a reservation early, but admission is free of charge and also the high number of various security forces or the military should be taken into account, which are important for safety and do an important job.
