! [ENGLISH]
I was running some errands downtown in Maracay, and I took the opportunity to take a short walk through Girardot Square, where there weren’t many people even though the weather was cool and there wasn’t much sun. I took the chance to take some photos of a tree that had been painted very beautifully. I really liked the way it was painted; this tree is located on the side of Girardot Square, toward the back.
Girardot Square is an iconic spot in the city that many people would like to visit since it’s across from the state cathedral; however, unlike most squares—which are typically named Bolívar Square—it isn’t the one directly in front of the cathedral. It’s a fairly busy square where many people pass through every day. Although the square isn’t particularly pretty, this time I found it a little nicer than the last time I visited.
It’s not that they’ve made any changes to this plaza or renovated it; it was simply cleaner than the last time I was there. Of course, it’s the rainy season—it’s rained quite a bit—and I imagine that’s why the plaza looks so clean, but there are also some puddles of water in various parts of the plaza. I didn’t walk around the plaza much; I just sat down for a while to watch people go by and take some pictures since I was out with my daughter.
The painted tree really caught my attention; I like the colors they used and also the design—it features several sunflowers, a parrot, a turpial bird, and some cacti. All of this really captures the essence of Venezuela, making the scenery quite colorful and adding a touch of beauty to Girardot Square, which makes our visit a little more enjoyable.
It’s nice to see that instead of cutting down a tree—even if it’s already dead or not very useful—it’s given another chance to add beauty in a different way. This is what makes the landscape beautiful and really helps beautify the city. This tree is very close to the public restrooms in the plaza, but nevertheless, it doesn’t smell bad or anything there. It’s a very nice walk you can take on foot, and it’s right in the heart of the city of Maracay.
