Hello dear Hiveans! I hope you survived the weekend well and had a great time! Today I introduce you to the plant called cabbage thistle (Cirsium oleraceum). The plant originally coming from Europe and Asia is now widespread in North America, Eurasia and Africa.

It is typical that this plant can be found in forests, on river banks or generally in humid areas. When the growth area is shaded or semi-shaded, Cirsium oleraceum feels comfortable, the soil should also be rich in nutrients to have optimal conditions for growing.

There are about 200 different species and it usually reaches sizes of up to 150 cm. From July to September is the flowering period of this plant and it is also beneficial for the world of insects as it is a good source of food.

It is great that Cirsium oleraceum is a medicinal plant that has been used against various diseases since ancient times. The correct form of ingestion is important because the plant is slightly poisonous and should only be used by experienced people.

The active ingredients of the plant are alkaloids, resins and others and these help against diseases such as gout or rheumatism.
