Far, far away, beyond the edge of the known universe, the inhabitants of a planet much like Earth celebrated the start of another revolution around their central star. They tallied their accomplishments, mourned missed opportunities and made plans for the next trip to be better in every way than the last.

Of course, nobody ever really knows what the future will bring (not with any certainty at least), but unpredictability was the price of a noteworthy life. They had seen good times and bad, loved and fought each other in equal measure but through it all, they remained hopeful.

I have a confession to make. That story was 99 words long, not 100 and unlike most of my 100-word stories, there were no random words. I hope you enjoyed it anyway and I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year! I'm posting this about an hour before midnight where I am but I'll just assume it's already 2022 by the time you read it.

2021 has been an interesting year for me and I'm grateful that I'm still here on this planet with a brand new 365 days coming up to experience and enjoy. I'd like to thank everyone who stops by my blog, reads, comments, upvotes or just sends good vibrations. Special thanks to pfunk@pfunk whose support has really helped keep me motivated on Hive since my return.

Peace (and have a wonderful 2022!) ☮️.
