The yard was infested with snails ranging from slightly larger than a pinhead to roughly the size of a young piglet. Hundreds of the critters oozed across the once-perfect Zen garden devouring all that was edible and defiling all that was not. This was very, very bad for several reasons. Crushing them would only release more eggs, salting this many would ruin the soil and a blow torch would traumatize her child, the one who'd lovingly (and secretly) brought the first of the these vermin to her home. This would require a cunning bit of misdirection and an excellent exterminator...
I wrote this one with Giant African Snails in mind. Those bastards are huge, as you might have guessed by the name, and they really are that hard to get rid of. I feel like I've written about them on Hive before but I can't recall and honestly, I don't think I have the energy right now to search my blog for the previous reference that might or might not be there. It's been on of those mornings.
Anyway, on to the two random words in this story. Go ahead and guess if you like...
Okay, ready? They were 'snail' and 'cunning'.
Peace ☮️.
