Imagine waking up early morning, just to see all your crypto assets gone forever. This was the case for lots of users using BitKeep Wallet. Hackers, or let’s say bad actors stole nearly about $8 million from users, just as soon as Christmas has even end.

BitKeep is a multiple chain supporting wallet integrating Web3. It comes with application version under Android and iOS for storing the crypto assets.

What caused the assets to get stolen? Well, there was the problem with the application version installed. The modded version application allowed bad actors to track and point out the wallet just to snitch $8 million worth of assets in $ETH, $BNB and $USDT.

This wallet also allows users to explore NFTs and DeFi protocols via their smartphones. I think, it’s way too risky, to access cryptocurrencies from smartphone than using PCs or laptops. I also have been telling in my earlier guide on ways to safekeep the decentralized /custodial wallet.

With cryptocurrency, there is a necessity to be smart enough to safekeep your crypto-assets. If you have huge amount of assets, get yourself a ledger. If not, keep few in exchange itself and others in Metamask, or Keplr wallet for Cosmos, Electrum wallet for Bitcoin and Litecoin, Phantom wallet for Solana, GUI wallet for Monero, or mynearwallet for Near Protocol. Remember, Metamask can support a whole bunch of cryptos like ethereum, polygon, bnb and even wrapped versions of bitcoins and dogecoins.

Wish you happy trading!
